Scholars At Your Service provides fully insured, top quality trained students to service your home. We use electric sanding equipment on all of our sites to ensure that edges are feathered properly. This is how we are able to offer our industry leading 3 year paint and labour warranty. No other company can offer this value at our price point.

Complementary Quotation

Every client relationship begins with a personal consultation to review the project and understand your vision.

During this visit, a Scholarly representative will accompany you on a walk around of the home to determine what needs painting, and which preparation process is required to solve each paint failure. We will then explain in detail the preparation process that will best suit your home.

At the end of this no-obligation meeting, you will be provided with an accurate and specific quotation explaining the proposed work, and the investment required for us to complete your project. This proposal will include the prep work, paint colour, paint finish and all of the details that were covered in the course of the estimate.

We also prepare a document labeled “Painters Notes”. This is a list of specific requests you have for the painters on the project. Every employee will be provided a copy of these notes, and by filing them our together during the estimate, we are able to guarantee the successful communication of your most important requests.

 Painting Service Process

To ensure that you receive only the highest quality service, all of our paint projects go through a rigorous process which includes:

             - Painter's Notes
             - Safety Check
             - Wash Down
             - Prep Work
             - Prep Clean Up
             - Primer Application
             - Paint Coat Application
             - Final Clean Up.

Painter’s Notes: As promised during the estimate a review of the       Painters Notes will be the first thing completed upon project commencement. The project manager will take the painters on a walk around and explain all client requests. Each painter must sign off on this sheet, acknowledging these requests before beginning the paint job.

Safety Check: A Safety Check of the project is facilitated before production begins. Difficult ladder maneuvers will be discussed, and a project pan will be organized with the Crew Chief. Once all paints are aware of potential safety concerns, the preparation is initiated.

Wash Down: Before scraping and sanding, we must do a full wash/wipe down of areas with significant salt or dirt build up. If a surface is not cleaned before painting, it will spawn paint failures. Surfaces are pressure washed or hosed depending on the amount of build up.

Prep Work: Prior to beginning prep work, drop sheets are placed under all areas before scraping and sanding. Drop cloths catch all scraped paint and other debris, helping to control the mess, and keeping the paint site clean. We will then scrape all large areas of flaking paint and use electric hand sanding equipment to sand the edges smooth. Sanding is prioritized to ensure that we are delivering a top quality paint job. Other Prep Work Includes: fascia and window sill replacement, TSP wash for mold and mildew, shellac to seal wood knots, wire brush for rust stains on metal, caulking and puttying to seal window cracks and crevices, wood filling to patch any wood cracks or rotted areas.

Prep Clean Up: Now that prep work is complete, it is time for a round one clean up. We will not leave paint chis and debris on your property until project completion. Once we are done scraping and sanding, we will use our vacuum to thoroughly clean your property, before continuing to prime and paint.

Primer Application: After the prep clean up is done, we use primer to spot prime all exposed metal or wood. Specialized primers with agents such as rust proofs or wood sealers will be applied to all appropriate areas. Any areas that we have deemed to be potential problem areas will receive 2 or 3 coats of primer. By doing this we are ensuring that the top coat will last and difficult spots are completely sealed.

Paint Coat Application: We then carefully apply paint coats using top quality ICI paints with your predetermined sheen level. Our students will carefully brush and roll paint on the desired surface paying particular attention to edges and straight lines. Our employees go through extensive training on proper brushing, rolling, and cutting techniques. An uneven topcoat will ruin the hard preparation work that has gone into a project so we take the time to ensure the finish is properly executed to leave you completely satisfied.

Final Clean Up: Now for the final step. Cleanliness on every job site is one of our most important goals. We know that we are not just painting a house but someone ‘s cherished home. You have pride in the appearance of your home, and so do we. After the completion of the top coat, we neatly clean all drop sheets, crew kits, ladders and paint cans. We will dispose of all garbage and take all our tools with us. We will never leave waste or used paint cans behind.
